I am Legend

Despite my friend and her friend’s negative rumors about the movie, I still insisted on watching I am Legend. ‘How come my colleagues were not disappointed?’, I tried to convince them. Since I already watched National Treasure, our choices in the Ayala Cinema were narrowed to two: I am Legend and Bee Movie (luckily, not their type). So, the choice is mine. I just gave them free tickets so they would not feel too disappointed.

Horror Flick

iamlegend.jpgI never thought the movie would terrify me because, in the first place, I always expected the movie to be just plain drama. I had only watched the trailer once, and I never read any reviews so as to avoid any spoilers. My friend’s negative comment (which she based from her other friend’s review) did not influence me. Instead, it made me more want to see the movie in order to verify their conclusions.

Shhh!

The silence, in my personal point of view, is the best suspense element used in the movie (Reminds me of The Others by Nicole Kidman, which is one of my favorite horror movies.). The plot is kind of urban, a new twist in the adaptation from the book (later did I know that the movie was based from a book and has former movie versions). And the actor? Well, I am sure he will be nominated for such an award; the best!

OMG!

My friend was so moved with how the there-is-a-god thing was incorporated into the movie. A valuable lesson there.

Four Thumbs Up

At the end of the movie, I could tell that my friend and her friend (we’re not yet friends, :P) were enjoying the movie. That night was a legend.

Two Treasures

1. Starbucks 2008 Planner

Congrats, vatski, for that Planner I so envy! ;) I just wish that after the promo, Starbucks will sell those planners left (if there will be remains of them), because 24 stickers are a real pain in the ass pocket! But maybe, I’ll just go for that Jolibee planner. :P I thought of checking Bo’s Coffee Club if they have planners. Do they?

2. National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
national-treasure-2.jpg

Got two cents. Title reminds me of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which is also a second installment. Haha! So National Treasure 3 will be subtitled: Prisoner of ____. LOL!

Second, during the movie, I was wary that Nicholas Cage’s wife is one of the eyes of the villain (which would give a new twist to the movie). I think that will be on the third movie. (What a prediction!)

Started the New Year with…

three movies.

Dang, yes. My new year could have been, as far as I can recall since the past two decades, the lamest ever. I was so in the mood of getting upset and ireful. Oh what a feeling.

So and so. I just watched The Number 23, Herbie Fully Loaded, and Taxi.

The day ended but not the movie marathon.

The next day:

All Taxi!

taxi.jpgThe first of the four Taxi movies, which was French (thanks there was an English subtitle), was very familiar. I assumed that the Jimmy-Fallon-and-Queen-Latifah-starred Taxi I watched the previous day was an American adaptation to the French movie which has 3 sequels. I was right!

French vs. American

In the overall, I like the American remake. I think I will not be biased if I had seen the French version first… Ok, erase and rewind.  Both are amazing! I don’t have to compare anything from them but the years they were made: 1998 and 2004. Now, that’s the difference. Am I on both sides now? And one more thing: the two men team-up in the French version is kinda gay for me. LOL!

The first sequel is great; the second, hilarious.Too bad, I missed the last sequel. That’s for next time.

December Boys

December BoysWatched this film alone last night during the LFS.  I think there were only 6 moviegoers that time, including me and the two strangers who were very busy necking at the back seat. Forget them, I still found my solitary composure inside the cinema.

♥ I love the location. Those big rocks are a breathtaking scenery.

♦ Naughty scenes of peeping, peep-holing, pictures in bras and panties, smoking, and all those grown-up things, including pre-marital sex. My take? I dont have a take.

♦ Maps (played by Daniel Radcliffe) is OK. What? He became a priest?
