Pretentious Slacker

March 3, 2008 · 8 Comments

Like in every other cinemas in the city, every last full show generously presents the Philippine national anthem. A stint like that of a flag retreat I would not miss during Elementary days, people stand up to show that they are, at least, patriotic.

But tonight, I did not care. I just sat in my most comfortable pose, anticipating for why Juno is entitled as such. I looked around the people and my friends, too, who were on their feet and I had these thoughts about the enactment.

Are we really true to ourselves when we stand for the anthem?

What my teacher told me is “to stand up straight.” So, is it invalid if we lax with one foot?

Am I being so treacherous to the anthem?

Who is pathetic? The one seating down or the pretentious slacker?

Both?

Wow, they actually do that? I never heard of anywhere doing that before.
I dont think anyone is pathetic, if you dont want to stand up for the anthem then don’t, no point standing up just because you feel like you have to :P

There are many times I haven’t stood for the anthem. I don’t believe that there is anything wrong with not standing. If you don’t stand it doesn’t mean you aren’t patriotic, and a lot of people make it out to be that way.

    Juno was a great movie.

Oh yea, there’s nothing wrong for us… in our own point of views.

    Juno was really great!

The thing with that show I auditioned for was there weren’t sure if they wanted someone older to play the part or younger, and they went with younger.
